The founder of KISTER, SAVIO and REI, INC., the late Donald E. Kister, began his land surveying practice in 1927 in the Richmond-El Cerrito area. He became well-known and respected in his profession and had the honor of being the first surveyor appointed to serve on the State Board of Registration for Civil Engineers and Land Surveyors.
In 1955, Mr. Charles J. Savio, also a licensed land surveyor, established with Mr. Kister the partnership of Kister and Savio, Associated. Their practice continued and expanded until 1963 when Michael P. Rei, a registered civil engineer, joined with them to form KISTER, SAVIO & REI, INC., offering consultant Civil Engineering, Land Surveying and Land Planning services throughout Northern California. Charles J. Savio retired from the practice in 1980 and subsequently passed away in 2006.
Michael P. Rei retired from the practice in 2000, at which time the firm was acquired by staff members Matthew L. Rei and Patrick M. Rei. Michael P. Rei continues to serve the firm as a consultant. Matthew L. Rei is a registered Civil Engineer and Licensed Land Surveyor who started working for KSR in 1985. Patrick M. Rei is a Licensed Land Surveyor and began working for KSR in 1981.
